BigBots: Jennifer Gooch

Rise and Fall

Rise and Fall, is an installation that explores flux of civilization: nationalism, allegiance, identity, and the cycles of dominance and defeat.

The flags travel up and down their poles at different speeds and intervals, and speakers embedded within the platforms relay bits of anthem-like songs. If a flag unit receives information from its range sensors, which surround the perimeter of the piece, the flag will begin to go up, and the unit's music will get louder and more frenetic.

Jennifer Gooch

Jennifer Gooch is an artist and musician from Dallas, Texas. Her multi-media work includes performance, video, sculpture, and web and public projects. She is an MFA candidate at Carnegie Mellon University.
